A Community Jewel

  • The Claymont Public Library’s Darley Green location on Lenape Way opened on October 26, 2013.

Featuring state-of-the-art technology, this beautiful new facility sits on 7.5 acres, offering patrons meeting and study rooms, dedicated Teen and Children’s areas, a drive-up window, a walking trail and an outdoor pergola.

A cornerstone of the Claymont community, the library’s new location is just a stone’s throw from its original home in the historic Old Stone School, where it was founded in 1929 by the Women’s Club of Claymont. In 1975 the Claymont Public Library joined the New Castle County Library system.
